With a CMS (Content Management System) there is almost no limit to what you can do with your website. We use different CMS'es for different needs, they are all licensed on the GPL, that meens they are Open Source and there is no license fees to be payed.
A Content Management System is a system which generates tekst in a pre-defined design. The text then, is edited via a administration panel, and is added inside a database which will be gathered from the databesed when accessed from your or anyones browser. Text is added or changed via a administration panel, which meens you don't need any knowledge of programming in order to maintain your content. Another advantage is if you later want to change your design, your content is stored in a different place and is not affected upon changes in design. The CMS-systems has built-in lots of modules and functions, so you can then use your homepage to many different tasks such as forum, mailinglists, banner-advertising, and lots and lots of other things. Also there is no limits to the amount of pages in your website, just log in and add content! Some sites have several thousands sub-pages. Most new homepages today is made with a CMS-system of some sort.
CMS Made Simple and Joomla! are the preffered systems we use. Both are Open Source systems and are developed and maintained by volunteers without pay, and are in themselves examples to what cooperation across borders may result in. The CMS-systems are in constant developement, and knocks out most of the expencive CMS-solutions on the market today. The site you are reading now is made with the MLE edition of CMS Made Simple.
Any CMS-system will always be subject to updates based on new functions as well as security releases (hackers etc.), and it is therefore adviceble to update the system files upon upgrades, normally 4-6 times a year. We provide a maintainance agreement to take care of this.
